Welcome to Blurize ("we," "our," or "us"). Your privacy is critically important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application.

This policy is designed to comply with global privacy regulations, including but not limited to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (Europe), California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) (US), Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) (US), and Kişisel Verilerin Korunması Kanunu (KVKK) (Turkey).

1. 100% On-Device Processing

The core functionality of Blurize is to blur faces and objects in your photos and videos. We are committed to your privacy:

No Media is Uploaded. All face scanning, detection, video processing, and exporting happen 100% offline locally on your device's hardware. Your photos and videos are NEVER transmitted to, stored on, or processed by our servers or any third-party servers. Your media remains strictly on your device.

1a. Face Data

Blurize uses on-device face detection to help you find and blur faces in your own photos and videos. We want to be explicit about how this works:

  • What we detect: Using Google ML Kit's on-device face detection, the app locates the position of faces (bounding-box coordinates) within the media you choose. It does not create faceprints, face-recognition templates, or any biometric identifier, and it does not identify or recognize who anyone is.
  • How it is used: Face locations are used solely to let you select which faces to blur or cover, and to render the blurred output — entirely on your device.
  • Sharing: Face data is never shared with us or any third party. It never leaves your device. It is not sent to our servers or to any server, because Blurize has no media backend.
  • Storage & retention: Face detection results exist only transiently — in memory and in temporary on-device files during your editing session — and are deleted afterward. No face data is stored in any account, database, or backend, and none is retained after you finish.

In short: the only "face data" involved is temporary, on-device face-location data used to power the blur feature, never collected by us, never shared, and never retained.

2. Information We Collect

Because your media is processed offline, we only collect minimal data necessary to maintain app functionality and provide personalization:

A. Authentication Data

We use Firebase Anonymous Authentication to create a temporary, anonymous session for you. This does not require your name, email, or any personally identifiable information. If you choose to link an account later, we will collect the standard authentication data provided by the third-party provider (e.g., email address).

B. App Preferences and Settings

We use Firebase Cloud Firestore to store global configuration data and your non-identifiable app personalization settings (e.g., chosen theme, preferred blur intensity).

C. Analytics and Usage Data

We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how users interact with our app. This includes:

  • App launch frequency
  • Screens visited
  • Anonymous device information (OS version, device model)
  • General usage patterns

D. Crash and Error Reports

We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports if the app encounters an error. These reports include technical device information and stack traces but do not contain your personal photos or videos.

E. Payment and Subscription Data

If you purchase premium features, payments are processed securely through your app store (Apple App Store or Google Play) and managed via RevenueCat. We do not collect or store your credit card information. We only receive an anonymous user ID and your subscription status.

F. Advertising Data

The free version of Blurize displays advertisements served by Google AdMob. Premium subscribers do not see ads. To deliver and measure ads, Google and its partners may collect and process certain data, including:

  • A device advertising identifier (e.g., Google Advertising ID or Apple IDFA)
  • IP address and approximate (non-precise) location
  • Device and connection information (device model, OS version, language)
  • Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks)

Depending on your region and your consent choices, ads may be personalized (based on the data above) or non-personalized (contextual only, with limited data used for frequency capping, fraud prevention, and reporting). We never share your photos, videos, or any media with advertising networks — your media is processed entirely on your device and is never accessed for advertising. For more on how Google uses this data, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

3. How We Use Your Information

The minimal data we collect is used solely to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the application.
  • Personalize your app experience.
  • Monitor app stability and fix crashes.
  • Process your in-app purchases and manage your subscription.
  • Analyze anonymous usage trends to improve future features.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services, which may collect anonymous data as described above. We encourage you to review their privacy policies:

  • Google Firebase (Auth, Firestore, Crashlytics, Analytics): Google Privacy Policy
  • Google AdMob (Advertising): Google Privacy Policy
  • RevenueCat: RevenueCat Privacy Policy
  • Apple / Google (Payment Processing): See their respective store privacy policies.

5. GDPR, CCPA, KVKK, and Global Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you have rights under regulations like the GDPR (EU), CCPA (California/US), and KVKK (Turkey). Because we primarily use Anonymous Authentication and do not collect standard personal data (like names or emails), your data footprint is minimal. However, you still have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of the limited telemetry/settings data associated with your anonymous ID.
  • Rectification: Correct any inaccurate settings data.
  • Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten" / Deletion): You can delete your app data by clearing the app cache or deleting the app, which destroys the anonymous Firebase ID. You may also contact us to delete any associated Firestore records.
  • Opt-Out (Do Not Sell or Share My Info): We do not "sell" your personal information for money. Under certain laws (such as the CCPA), the use of advertising identifiers for personalized advertising may be considered "sharing." You can control this:
    • Advertising consent (EU/UK): Where required, we (via Google's consent tools) ask for your consent before serving personalized ads, and you may withdraw it.
    • Limit ad tracking: On iOS, you can deny App Tracking and reset your advertising identifier in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. On Android, you can opt out of ad personalization and reset your Advertising ID in Settings → Google → Ads.
    • Analytics/Crashlytics: You can opt out of analytics and crash tracking in your device settings or via in-app preferences (if applicable).

6. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

Blurize does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at okiata@gmail.com. Since we use Anonymous Authentication, we cannot easily identify users, but we will take steps to delete any associated backend data if notified.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy or by displaying a notice within the app.

8. Contact Us
